Form E is the financial statement used for a financial order under the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 or the Civil Partnership Act 2004. It is also used for financial relief after an overseas divorce, which the guidance links to Part 3 of the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Act 1984 and Schedule 7 to the Civil Partnership Act 2004.
The guidance also links to two further financial statement forms, Form E1 and Form E2.
It explains how to open PDF documents too. HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) says you can download and open PDF documents on your device, and that downloading allows more features, such as printing. It suggests using Adobe Reader, which is free and does not require a free trial sign-up.
The steps given are:
- Download Adobe Reader for free.
- Right-click on the document link, then select "Save link as" or "Download linked file".
- Save the form, in your "documents" folder for example.
- Open Adobe Reader and select the saved form.
If the form still does not open, HMCTS says to contact hmctsforms@justice.gov.uk.
What this means for people completing Form E
- Check the postal address in the guidance before you send your completed form.
- Send the completed form together with all of your supporting documents, as the guidance says.
- If the form will not open on your device, follow the steps above or use the HMCTS forms email address given.
